Habitat for Humanity India participates in marathons held in four major cities – Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Bengaluru – to raise support for housing, sanitation and disaster response initiatives.

Business leaders, students, youngsters, corporate teams and all friends of Habitat who believe that everyone deserves a decent place to live, run to support our vision of building a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Over 520 runners ran in the following marathons in 2019-20 in support of housing, sanitation and disaster risk reduction and response initiatives in the country.

89 students from 17 schools participated in the marathons.

Airtel Delhi Half Marathon 2019

Over 200 people ran the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon 2019 on 20th October 2019 in support of Habitat for Humanity India. Mr. Rajesh Ramakrishnan, Managing Director, Perfetti Van Melle India ran the Dream Run. Ms. Shweta Sharma, Ms. Sarita Rawat and Mr. Justin Jebakumar ran as Individual Silver Care Champions. Aditi Someshwar, Suryaveer Singh and Toma Ogawa ran as Millennial Champions.

Tata Steel Kolkata 25K Run 2019

A team of 19 individuals from Senco Gold ran the Tata Steel Kolkata (TSK) 25K for Habitat India on 15th December 2019.

Tata Mumbai Marathon 2020

Mr. Sumanth Cidambi, Director - KKR (Kohlberg Kravis Roberts) India Financial Services Private Limited, participated in the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2020 as a Change Icon, running for better sanitation on behalf of Habitat India.

We are also grateful to Mr. Piyush Khullar who ran as a Change Investor and Ms. Shloka Nath who ran the marathon as a Change Maker to raise funds for our work!

Tata Mumbai Marathon 2019 

Mr. Sudhir Shenoy (CEO, Dow Chemical International Pvt. Ltd [Dow India]), ran as a Change Champion in the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2019.

Mr. Shenoy raised money to support Habitat India's initiative to provide housing for the widows of farmers. Habitat for Humanity India has built homes for 25 women whose farmer husbands have committed suicide due to the financial crisis.
