Habitat for Humanity India participates in marathons held in four major cities – Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Bengaluru – to raise support for housing, sanitation and disaster response initiatives.

Business leaders, students, youngsters, corporate teams and all friends of Habitat who believe that everyone deserves a decent place to live, run to support our vision of building a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Run for a cause and make a difference

Corporate teams receive the following privileges:
1. On race day, a special tent is set up in the holding area to field corporate teams that are participating. These employees are engaged in fun activities like zumba, yoga, games and team challenges which ensure that employees bond with each other and have a memorable experience at the marathon.

2. Corporates get visibility at marathons - in the charity docket, inside the corporate tent on race day, in publicity for various events through social media.

It is a great event for employee engagement and volunteering.

Corporates can donate to marathons from CSR, Marketing or HR budgets.

Airtel Delhi Half Marathon 2019

Over 200 people ran the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon 2019 on 20th October 2019 in support of Habitat for Humanity India. 34 employees from Plasser India, 60 employees from Perfetti Van Melle India, 25 employees from Sony Pictures Network and 40 employees from Li and Fung ran the marathon in support of our Stay at School campaign.

Mr. Rajesh Ramakrishnan, Managing Director, Perfetti Van Melle India ran the Dream Run, Ms. Shweta Sharma, Ms. Sarita Rawat and Mr. Justin Jebakumar ran as Individual Silver Care Champions while Aditi Someshwar, Suryaveer Singh and Toma Ogawa ran as Millennial Champions.

Tata Mumbai Marathon 2019 Change Champion Mr. Sudhir Shenoy

Mr. Sudhir Shenoy (CEO, Dow Chemical International Pvt. Ltd [Dow India] and Member of Habitat India’s Advisory Committee), ran as a Change Champion in the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2019.

Mr. Shenoy raised money to support Habitat India's initiative to provide housing for the widows of farmers. Habitat for Humanity India has built homes for 25 women whose farmer husbands have committed suicide due to the financial crisis.

Habitat India Runners Build
If you run for us as a corporate team, you could get the chance to participate in a Runners Build. Here you get the opportunity to meet and build a home with a future Habitat homeowner. The cost per volunteer (which the team will be exempted from) includes preparation like the arrangement of construction material, painting materials, water for construction, masons, tools and hand gloves, chairs, contribution towards building of home or a sanitation units, lunch, and drinking water. In addition, your employee will receive a certificate for their participation in the build.
