Bollywood actor, national award winning producer and Habitat for Humanity India brand ambassador John Abraham felicitated students and teachers of the schools that have partnered with Habitat for Humanity India in its Rupee for Change campaign for the past year.
Rupee for Change is an annual campaign motivating students to voluntarily contribute INR 1 per day towards building homes and sanitation facilities for the underprivileged. Many of these students also volunteer and take part in building homes, thus transforming the lives of many families and gaining a new perspective towards the world.
The top schools in academic year 2017-18 were The Cathedral & John Connon School (Mumbai), St. John Universal School (Mumbai), The Millennium School, HMEL Bathinda, Sadhu Vaswani International School (Hyderabad) and Gowtham Model Schools (Hyderabad).
In a special Meet and Greet event held on 19th January 2019 at Novotel, Juhu in Mumbai, John Abraham interacted with school students, principals and teachers and honoured them for their contribution.
“The need for a decent home is a fundamental right. The contribution by schools will definitely help in providing decent shelter and sanitation to the people in need. I would like to congratulate the students, teachers and principals of schools whose dedication to the cause, have made all the difference,” said John Abraham.
