Sudhir Shenoy - CEO, Dow Chemical International Pvt. Ltd. [Dow India] and Member of Habitat India’s Advisory Committee, ran on our behalf in the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2019. His dream was to complete 50 marathons by the age of 50. Having achieved this prestigious milestone, he chose to run his 51st marathon for the cause of shelter for farmers’ widows, raising INR 55,50,274.25 on their behalf.

“It is the solemn duty of every like-minded citizen to help the wives of deceased farmers rebuild their lives. We need to roll-out concrete financial inclusion initiatives for women who continue to remain the most vulnerable section of the population in rural areas,” said Sudhir Shenoy.

Over the last 3 years, Habitat India has built homes for 140 families of farmers, who committed suicide in the agrarian crisis, in Osmanabad, Amravati, Washim and Yewatmal districts in Maharashtra.

To inaugurate a unique housing project in Morshi block, Amravati, Sudhir Shenoy laid the first brick and interacted with the families who have partnered with Habitat India to build a place they can call home.
