In a successful collaboration, Habitat for Humanity India with support from Northern Trust constructed 13 new homes in Chikhalgaon village, Pune — each equipped with solar lighting systems. An additional 18 families gained access to solar energy. A sanitation unit was also built at Siddheshwar Vidyalaya in nearby Kude village, benefitting 70 students.

By combining housing, renewable energy and improved school infrastructure, this initiative served over 200 people and created a pathway towards healthier, more climate-resilient communities.

“We lived in a house that leaked every time it rained. There was no electricity, and my daughters and wife had no privacy. Now, we have a strong roof, access to solar power and sanitation. Our lives have changed.” Balu, Homeowner, Chikhalgaon.
